Volunteering With Homeward
On the last Wednesday in January and July of every year, Homeward and its volunteers partner with community outreach staff to conduct a Point-In-Time (PIT) Count of the number of people experiencing homelessness in our community on a given night (24 hour period). Communities are required to conduct a PIT Count once a year to be eligible for federal funding. In Iowa, we organize PIT Counts twice a year: in January and July. Volunteers hand out donated supply kits and small gift cards in exchange for basic count information.
***If you have a group that would like to assemble supply kits, please use this supply list.
