The Polk County Adult Action Council (AAC) is a group for people with lived experience with homelessness, who want to inform and improve the homeless system. AAC members must be at least 25 or older. AAC will start meeting in September and is designed to take action to improve housing services in Polk County.

Our work includes:

  • Homelessness Program and System Improvement,

  • Reducing Stigma Through Advocacy, Outreach, and Public Speaking,

  • Conducting Volunteer Service Projects,

  • Sponsoring Skill Building Workshops, and

  • Building Connections among individuals experiencing Homelessness, Providers, and Services.

The Adult Action Council is expected to launch in September 2025! The group is anticipated to meet twice/month, for an hour. Individuals who participate regularly in the group will be compensated for their time via a stipend.

The group is currently looking for a meeting space that can host their regular meetings. The space must be on a bus line, safe, and have Wifi available. Additional perks include the availability of food and coffee.

Contact Amy Croll with your ideas and willingness to contribute to the work!

The Polk County Adult Action Council is supported by Homeward, but is its own separate decision-making entity, managed by its own leadership group.
